Every time on WhatTimeIsThe should be correct, current and easy to read. This policy explains how the WTIT Time Desk researches, writes, checks and corrects every page.

Sources

  • Start times come from official sources only: leagues, event organizers, venues and broadcasters.
  • We never copy times from other time-listing websites.
  • When official sources disagree, the organizer’s own schedule wins, and we note the difference until it is resolved.
  • If a time has not been announced, the page says “Time TBA” instead of guessing. The page fills in as soon as the official time is published.

Time zones and daylight saving

  • Eastern Time (ET) is listed first, because most North American schedules are announced in ET. Pacific Time sits beside it.
  • Every page also shows your local time, calculated by your own browser.
  • Our time zone tables cover the United States and Canada, plus the countries where each sport or event has a real audience.
  • Every conversion is calculated for the event’s own date, so daylight saving changes in North America, Europe and the Southern Hemisphere are handled automatically. Places without daylight saving, such as Arizona, Hawaii and Saskatchewan, are listed separately.

Estimates are always labelled

Some times cannot be known in advance, such as halftime or when a game will end. We show these as estimates, marked “est.” with a tilde (~), and explain what can make them run later.

Updates and corrections

  • When an official time, date, venue or TV channel changes, we update the page the same day.
  • Every page shows the date it was last updated.
  • If we make a mistake, we fix it as soon as it is confirmed. For significant errors, such as a wrong date or start time, we add a short correction note at the end of the page.
  • To report an error, email info.whattimeisthe@gmail.com with the page link and, if possible, the official source.

Live data and automation

Game schedules, scores and TV listings are loaded automatically from licensed sports data feeds. Schedules refresh several times a day, and live scores refresh every few minutes during games. Each page shows when its data was last refreshed. The WTIT Time Desk monitors these feeds and corrects any wrong entry by hand.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to help draft and format some pages. A person on the WTIT Time Desk reviews every fact, time and date before a page is published, and the WTIT Time Desk is responsible for everything on the site.

Independence

  • WhatTimeIsThe is independent. We are not affiliated with any league, team, broadcaster or event organizer.
  • Advertising pays for the site. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how we cover it.
  • We do not publish betting odds, accept paid placements or sell links.
